The Galveston Planning Commission unanimously approved a request to add a deck and install a new staircase at 25611 Snowy Egret Drive in the Point West subdivision.
Planning staff presented the application and survey materials, noting the structure's position relative to the dune system and nearby properties. Staff cited Bureau of Economic Geology mapping showing the structure is 59 feet from the north toe of the dune and 549.6 feet from the line of vegetation. A GLO (Texas General Land Office) letter provided no comments, staff said.
"This is a request for a deck addition and a new staircase," the presenting staff member summarized. Staff provided site photos, the property survey and drawings that show the deck extension on the home's south side and the proposed staircase and posts on the east side.
No members of the public addressed the commission. A commissioner moved to approve case 25BFDash035 with staff recommendations; the motion passed unanimously.
The commission's approval allows the property owner to proceed with the work under the conditions noted in the staff report and standard permitting requirements. Staff noted the BEG maps and the survey are part of the record.
