Police chief introduces 'Guardian Grama' registry; two officers receive lifesaving awards

Chief Beresen said the registry is modeled on a program used by a neighboring city and is available via a link on the police department’s webpage. He described the registry as voluntary and confidential, with medical and diagnostic information kept separately in a secure file to aid responding officers, fire and EMS personnel.
The chief also recognized a recent promotional process performed by a consulting firm to create an eligibility list for sergeant positions. Sergeant Jeffrey Malillo, a Dickinson native, briefly described the multi‑part assessment process used for promotion and said he was honored to be promoted.
Finally, Chief Beresen and sergeant nominees presented life‑saving awards to Officers Lauren Early and Daniel Ammons for responding to a May 22 heroin overdose, administering two doses of Narcan and providing care until EMS arrived. The nomination detailed that the officers arrived within moments of dispatch, evaluated and treated the unresponsive victim, and that their actions were credited with saving a life.
No council action was required for the announcements and recognitions.
