Sarpy County commissioners on July 8 approved a construction‑management at‑risk (CMAR) agreement with Beckenhauer Construction to lead the remodel of the county’s 1200 Building for a new 9‑1‑1 communications center.
Beth Garber, assistant county administrator, told the board the county received nine proposals and interviewed five firms; the interview committee unanimously recommended Beckenhauer. Garber said Beckenhauer’s fee for preconstruction services is $10,000 and that a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for the full project will be presented after Beckenhauer completes plan review.
Why it matters: the remodel is intended to house the county’s emergency communications functions. County officials said construction is expected to start in January pending completion of design and GMP development.
Garber identified committee members who participated in the selection process and said the construction start date will be set once the contractor completes the preconstruction review and the county and contractor finalize the GMP and bid package.
The board approved the selection by motion (motion by Kelly Burmeister, second by Burmeister as recorded on the agenda sequence) and a unanimous voice vote was recorded on the motion.
