Kent Anderson of the county's Economic Development office told commissioners the county currently uses an internal inspector but a "state ordinance or a statute change" now "requires that we have 3 additional or up 3 or more additional third party contract services." Anderson identified the three agreements as interlocal contracts with Farmington City, Casco City, and Syracuse City, each covering July 8, 2025, through July 7, 2030.
Jenny Blowman from the planning office, who helped prepare the agreements, accompanied Anderson. After the presentation, a commissioner moved to approve items 5, 6 and 7. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The interlocal agreements are intended to provide builders in the county additional inspection options and serve as backups to the county's internal inspection provider.
Ending: The agreements take effect July 8, 2025, and run through July 7, 2030, providing additional third‑party inspection capacity and complying with state statutory changes noted by staff.
