South End infrastructure work to begin mid-July; sewer repairs under review with Town of Colonie

Mayor Marsh told trustees the gas company’s contractor (Jay Mullen Company) is expected to start in mid‑July. The village expects the South End infrastructure project to begin in earnest in the third week of July. Marsh said preliminary parking changes on Jimenez Lane have started and that village staff will work to have vehicles move to comply with new roadway configurations.
Separately, the village is negotiating with the Town of Colonie on sewer work for the Manass (South End) Road interceptor. Initial local project estimates had been about $800,000, but under a state contract a contractor (identified in the meeting as Canyon) quoted “just under” $200,000 for certain work; the mayor said manhole repairs and other items remain and total costs could be higher, but the quote is substantially below earlier estimates. The village intends to pursue grant funding and to coordinate with Colonie on next steps.
The board discussed timelines for the gas and sewer work and said it will seek reimbursement for eligible engineering costs related to the South End project through bonding and other mechanisms.
