Ada County sets $430,000 minimum bid for tax-deeded hotel, schedules Sept. 18 auction

Ada County Treasurer Elizabeth Maugh told the Board of Commissioners on July 8 that the county will offer a parcel obtained by tax deed for delinquent property taxes at a minimum bid of $430,000 and that the sale is set for Sept. 18 in the county Public Hearing Room.
Maugh said the minimum bid represents the amount due for delinquent taxes, costs, late charges and interest. She reminded the public that any proceeds exceeding the county's recovery amount would be paid to lien holders and then to the owner at the time of the tax deed.
Board members asked logistical questions. The treasurer said bidders must register through procurement before the auction and that an auction security deposit of $100,000 will be required to participate. The board approved the treasurer's recommendation and directed the treasurer to offer the parcel at the proposed minimum bid amounts as listed on the agenda.
No contract amount beyond the minimum bid, and no buyer identity, was provided during the meeting. The record shows a motion to authorize the treasurer to proceed, a second and a voice vote; the chair declared the motion carried.
