Freeman-affiliated board director updates commissioners on hospital construction delays; public asks for transparency

During the public-comment portion of the July 7 meeting, community members asked for clearer information about the local hospital project. Greg Motley, who identified himself as a member of the Freeman Ford Scott board of directors, told the commissioners construction is "virtually done," and that delays were caused by Johnson Controls being slow to reconfigure a proprietary fire-suppression/enunciator system after the building’s division and reconfiguration.

Motley said that after Johnson Controls completed its work, the project still required multiple progress inspections by state and federal inspectors. He described Freeman personnel he had met as collaborative and noted the contractor Crossland had pushed work through the process.

Speakers also raised unresolved property paperwork: commissioners and staff discussed an outstanding deed and transfers involving Legacy and the hospital property, including the heliport and an auxiliary building behind an ambulance structure. County staff said they would start by checking with the county registrar of deeds and staff (including Justin, as referenced) to locate relevant files and follow up.
