Bourbon County commissioners approve multiple resolutions, vacate Plaster Road

Bourbon County commissioners on July 7 adopted a slate of resolutions, approved routine financial actions and accepted the county audit for the year ending 2025.
The board voted to adopt Resolution 23-25 to vacate a 60-foot section of roadway described as Road 128 between Lot 5 Sub of Lot 1 Block 8 and Lot 2 of Block 8, Hyattville, Kansas. The resolution was moved, seconded and approved during the public hearing with no public speakers present.
The commissioners also adopted resolutions to dissolve the county Zoning Advisory Committee (Resolution 24-25), form an Employee Benefits Committee (Resolution 25-25) and appoint a nonvoting parliamentarian/advisor (Resolution B26-25). The board approved a resolution to cancel a list of outstanding warrants per state statute (Resolution 27-25) and voted to accept and sign the audit engagement for the fiscal year ending 2025.
Most of these items were noncontroversial on the floor and were approved after short readings and motions. The consent agenda — which included accounts payable totaling $110,518.99 and a Stronghold invoice of $6,800 — was approved as presented.
Why it matters: The vacation of Plaster Road changes public roadway status in a defined subdivision block and will be recorded as Resolution 23-25. The new Employee Benefits Committee establishes a standing internal forum for employee insurance and premium questions and repeals earlier provisions as noted in the resolution. The audit acceptance begins the formal closeout steps for FY2025’s financial review.
