The Cherokee Public Schools Board reviewed two sealed bids for a used “genie” lift and voted to leave the sale open to solicit additional bids rather than accept either offer immediately.
Staff reported two bids: $6,286 from Matt Aker of INE Tech and Applied Energy Company (packet text) and $6,800 from Craig Frederick of Medford. Staff said the machine is in good shape with low hours and new batteries, and that a comparable new machine lists closer to $20,000, prompting staff to seek a higher return if possible.
Board members discussed options including rejecting the bids and re-advertising with a minimum price or leaving the bidding period open. The board motioned to keep the sale open until the day before the next meeting — set as Aug. 1 in the discussion — and to notify current bidders so they can resubmit if they wish. Staff said they would contact the bidders and confirm options.
The board approved the motion to leave the sale open by roll-call vote.
Staff noted they received several inquiries but only two formal sealed bids; if no additional offers are received by the deadline, the board retains the option to revisit the highest bid.
