The Wyoming City Council voted July 7 to approve the transfer of an industrial facilities exemption certificate (IFT) from SC Plastics LLC to MS Metal Solutions Investors LLC, doing business as Proofs Manufacturing, and authorized the mayor and city clerk to sign the amended IFT agreement.
The company representative, Tyler McCoy, identified himself as CEO of Pruze Manufacturing and described the firm as a Grand Rapids‑area engineering and manufacturing company that supplies material‑handling systems to major parcel and retail customers. City staff said the transfer covers the remaining six years of an original 12‑year tax abatement and that the company plans to invest about $2,600,000 in machinery and equipment and create 36 jobs.
Council discussion and vote: City staff confirmed the remaining abatement period is six years and that the IFT includes a two‑year retention agreement obligating the buyer of the certificate to maintain the specified equipment and job levels for at least two years after the abatement ends. The motion to approve the transfer was made by Council Member Kreider and supported by Council Member Hill. A roll call vote approved the transfer.
What the IFT means: Industrial facilities exemption certificates provide a partial property tax abatement on qualifying new or existing industrial property improvements. In this instance, the council approved assignment of the remaining term of the certificate to the new owner, subject to the retention provisions described at the meeting.
