Commissioners appoint Tim Newman as Emergency Management Director and regional representative

The commission moved and seconded the appointment after staff noted Newman could not attend because of a family medical matter. Commissioner Carr moved to appoint Tim Newman; Commissioner Fuller seconded. Commissioners approved the appointment by show of hands.
A commissioner asked who would take command if Newman were unavailable during an incident; staff identified Andrew Barclay and a Mr. Ross as designated backups and said department heads submit coverage plans when they are out on leave.
No conditions or additional terms were recorded in the appointment motion. Staff said they would finalize appointment paperwork and provide contact information.
