Valley County commissioners on July 7 authorized publication of a sealed request for proposals for the Abstein Bridge project, allowing the county to begin advertising the work to contractors next week.
Staff described the RFP as a sealed-bid, 35-page package that will be open to contractors; advertising is scheduled to start the following week. Presenters said the county intends to solicit bids this season with construction targeted for next year. Commissioners discussed parcel-identification work that had delayed earlier progress and noted staff follow-up on parcel coordination.
One commissioner asked where the bridge is physically located; staff responded that it is just outside the city (board members referred to the site as north of the town). Staff confirmed the contract process will be sealed bids and that the bids will be opened and evaluated after the advertisement period.
A motion to approve publication of the Abstein Bridge RFP was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Commissioners said they would watch bid pricing and return to the board for contract award decisions after review of responses.
