At a joint portion of the meeting the Redevelopment Authority recommended and the Board approved four arts and culture grants at $5,000 apiece, for a total allocation of $20,000.
Anna Freeman, arts and culture supervisor in the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, said the redevelopment arts and culture grants support community events and projects. The commission received four eligible applications and recommended full funding at the advertised $5,000 maximum. Freeman said the city had budgeted $25,000 for redevelopment arts grants but that an additional $25,000 was available from prior redevelopment allocations, so awarding $5,000 to each applicant results in a total committed amount of $20,000 for this round.
Board members voted to award the four applicants the advertised maximum of $5,000 each. City staff noted award notifications and reimbursements will follow standard grant documentation requirements and that applicants must submit required tax forms (Form 990) and project invoices for reimbursement.
The motion passed with unanimous support and staff will process agreements and funding for the four awarded projects.
