Clerk of courts says office back to full staff; jail population steady near 60

The clerk of courts told the Public Safety Committee that the office is at full staffing: the criminal clerk recently returned from paternity leave and a new civil/small-claims/probate clerk has been on the job for a few weeks. The clerk said the new staff are "catching on pretty quick" and that operations are running as smoothly as possible.
The jail administrator reported the average daily jail population for June was 61 and the year-to-date average was 57. Last year’s average at the same point was 58, the administrator said, and the daily population on the day of the report was 59. The jail has four people on electronic monitoring. The administrator characterized the recent population as "right around that 60 mark" and substantially lower than in earlier years.
Committee members had no follow-up questions for either office during the meeting.
