Cheryl Frazier of Comal County Public Health briefed the Commissioners Court on June activity, reporting 112 immunizations and seven lab tests for the month, and 349 notifiable-condition reports that prompted 63 epidemiological investigations, 41 of which were confirmed.
Public Health said it conducted three outreach events reaching 127 individuals in New Braunfels, Canyon Lake and the Spring Branch area, and is offering monthly outreach by appointment at 1917 FM 2673, Canyon Lake, to make back-to-school vaccines more accessible. The local public-health office is at 1297 Churchill Drive, Suite 102; staff provided a contact phone number for scheduling: (830) 221-1150.
Frazier also reported Comal County Public Health has provided American Heart Association-certified training — including CPR, BLS, AED, Narcan, first aid and Stop the Bleed — to county employees. In May the department trained 15 employees at the district clerk’s office; in June it trained 14 employees from departments including animal control, federal court, GIS, the engineer’s office, sheriff’s office, district clerk, purchasing and the district attorney’s office. The department offers training to county employees on a recurring schedule and advised employees to sign up through their managers.
Frazier urged residents to obtain back-to-school vaccines before August to avoid last-minute demand. No formal court action was taken on the report; the briefing was provided as part of the workshop’s reports by county staff and elected officials.
