The Cerritos Planning Commission held a reorganization and approved an amendment to its June 4 meeting minutes during its July 2, 2025 regular meeting.
The commission elected Vice Chair Armar Reyes as chair after nominations and an electronic vote that passed 4-0 with one abstention, then elected Commissioner Javeri as vice chair by a 5-0 vote. The commission recessed briefly to conclude the reorganization.
The commission later considered a staff-proposed change to the minutes of the June 4 meeting. Associate staff member Sabrina Chan described a revision to section 8B to note a report by Commissioner Javeri (previously noted as vice chair). Commissioner Chowhan moved to add language to section 7C clarifying that a request to establish a new RS-4000 single-family residential zone would be a special project requiring city council approval and that “substantial cost” associated with the process contributed to the decision not to proceed. The motion to approve the minutes with the amendment passed by an electronic vote of 5-0.
Chair Reyes called a five-minute recess after the leadership votes; the commission reconvened and completed the remainder of the agenda.
