The Janesville Alcohol License Advisory Committee on July 1 voted to recommend denial of a Class B fermented-malt-beverage and Class B intoxicating-liquor license application for 9 11 Rockport LLC, doing business as Bad Brad’s Wing & a Prayer at 911 Rockport Road.
Staff told the committee the police department had denied the owner’s appointment because of a long history with the city and an open investigation. Deputy Chief Ratzlaff said there is “a long history with Mr. Halbach” and that detectives are consulting with the district attorney on an active investigation. Attorney William Morgan, representing the applicant, asked the committee to postpone or allow the applicants to address the concerns; the committee instead voted to recommend denial and instructed that the matter will go forward to City Council as a negative recommendation.
Motion and vote: the committee’s motion to deny carried; the advisory committee recorded a negative recommendation to City Council and the item will appear on the council agenda for final action.
