The Rensselaer County Legislature read a resolution commending Tom Lombardi, Columbia High School’s physical education teacher and strength and conditioning coach, upon his selection as New York State coach of the year in the Northeast Region by the National High School Strength Coaches Association.
The resolution cited Lombardi’s curriculum improvements, including a new “Fit for Life” class and expanded weight-room access used by an estimated 75–100 students after school. It noted his certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and said he plans to expand the weight-room mentorship program to Howard L. Goff Middle School.
Lombardi accepted the recognition briefly and thanked his family and supervisor. The reading was ceremonial; the transcript includes his remarks but does not show a roll-call vote connected to the presentation.
