BEAVER CITY — The Beaver City Planning and Zoning Commission on July 1 approved a conditional-use permit permitting a resident to operate a small, mobile flower stand from a wagon at 565 North 200 East.
Applicant Britney Parkinson described the operation as a small backyard flower farm that she sells from a wagon that she can pull into and out of her garage. Parkinson said she will post availability on social media when flowers are for sale and that the wagon would be stored inside the garage when not in use. “It’s literally a wagon that I can pull in and out of my garage, and set up just when I have flowers available,” she told commissioners.
Parkinson said she expects only occasional customers and no deliveries: “Everything I’m growing in my backyard,” she said. Commissioners confirmed there would be no permanent structure or signage and that parking should not be an issue for short sales posted on social media. Parkinson said she anticipates participating in the local farmer’s market beginning July 12.
After a brief discussion about hours, signage and likely traffic, a commissioner moved to approve the conditional-use permit for a flower stand at 565 North 200 East. The motion was seconded and approved without recorded opposition.
Commissioners characterized the proposal as a small-scale, temporary retail use appropriate for the neighborhood; they encouraged the applicant to follow local event rules if she participates in off-site markets.
