Ada County treasurer reports near-complete property tax collection ahead of July disbursements

Klein told commissioners the county has collected about 98.52% of total charges for the combined first and second-half tax periods. First-half collections stand at about 99.45%, and second-half collections are about 97.58% as of 08:41 that morning. The total charge amount for the second half was reported as $365,000,000, of which $356,000,000 had been collected; since the last distribution the treasurer reported collecting about $252,000,000. Klein said approximately 20% of that recent collection remains with the county, meaning the county’s share from the distribution will be roughly $15,000,000.
Klein explained that some mailed payments arrived late from other cities (he cited examples of mailings from Boise and Meridian, including items dated June 16) and that the county was still receiving remittances. He said the calculation for the disbursement of the recently collected receipts will occur Thursday, and the actual disbursement to taxing districts typically occurs near the 20th–25th of the month.
Why this matters: These collection and distribution figures determine cash available to taxing districts and county operations in the short term. The board did not alter disbursement policy at the meeting; the treasurer’s update was informational and scheduled routine disbursements under existing procedures.
