Votes at a glance: Seaford board approves agenda and minutes, elects president, approves school choice applications and 2025–26 calendar

The Seaford School District Board of Education completed a series of routine votes at its meeting, approving the agenda and minutes, electing a board president, tabling committee appointments, approving several school choice applications, and adopting the 2025–26 meeting calendar.

During the meeting the board approved the agenda and the minutes of its June 16, 2025 meeting by voice vote. Doctor Benson moved to approve the agenda. The minutes were approved following a separate motion and second.

In the board organization portion of the meeting members voted to elect a president; the board declared Keith Hopkins the winner by majority vote. The transcript records the announcement: "we have majority, congratulations, Keith Hopkins. You are." The transcript does not clearly record the winning candidate for vice president.

The board voted to table committee appointments until the next meeting after a motion and second to delay those appointments.

On school choice, the board approved school choice applications 2026-23 and 2026-24, denied application 2026-25, and rescinded previously submitted School Choice applications 2025-26 and 2024-22. The motion to handle the listed school choice applications was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.

The board also approved its proposed meeting dates for 2025–26, keeping the routine Tuesday schedule when Monday is a school day and moving the May meeting earlier to meet contract-notification deadlines. The motion to adopt the 2025–26 meeting schedule was moved by Dan Santiaman, seconded, and carried.
