Building and Grounds: committee approves several signage and parking changes; extension of premise allowed for Friday Night Live

The Waukesha City Building and Grounds committee on June 30 approved a series of brief items by voice vote: installation of a caution “autistic child area” sign at 1531 Magnolia; a change to parking rules on South Prairie between College Avenue and Sunset Drive to remove the two‑hour time limit (while retaining no‑parking zones); installation of a “Bridal Lane must turn right except Metro Transit buses” sign at westbound Summit Avenue and Grandview; and an extension of premise allowing Crush Wine Bar to use three parking spaces in Parking Lot 3 during Friday Night Live events.

Staff said the autism caution sign is a common city sign and that one sign would go on a light pole and another on a post; staff expects to repurpose signs in stock or make new ones. The motion to install the sign passed on a voice vote.

On parking, Alderman Dan Mannion and Park & Rec requested relief for weekend tournaments at Saratoga Park. The committee approved a motion to remove the two‑hour time-limit signs so weekend tournament parking will not be impeded; committee members also agreed to replace several faded “no parking” signs identified in staff materials.

The committee approved a transit-related turn restriction sign requested by Metro Transit; staff estimated material and installation at roughly $125 for the sign. The committee also approved a limited extension of premise for Crush Wine Bar to use three parking spaces in Parking Lot 3 during Friday Night Live; staff confirmed the applicant paid required fees and will be responsible for barricades and compliance with regulations.

All four items passed on voice votes with no recorded opposition.
