Oak Grove resident says SRO event left her house "thumping"; city and sheriff to follow up

Jennifer Francis, an Oak Grove resident, told the council on June 30 that music at an SRO event on Lake George produced such loud sound she could feel her home’s exterior walls vibrating.
"I kid you not, if you put your hand on an outside wall of the house, you could feel it vibrating," Francis said, describing an event that ran from about noon into the evening and featured multiple bands.
Francis said she called the sheriff’s office and was told the venue had a permit, and that officers said there was nothing they could do. She said she filed an official report and provided the mayor with the case number.
City Administrator Lauren told the council that the venue holds a general conditional‑use permit to operate a bar but did not obtain a special event permit from the city for last weekend’s event. Lauren said the venue is subject to the city’s noise ordinance and that the sheriff’s office is the primary enforcer; she said staff will contact both the sheriff’s office and SRO to discuss the complaint and to try to improve planning for future events.
No council vote was taken. The mayor asked staff to follow up with the sheriff’s office and the venue.
