The Queen Anne's County Board of Education approved a contract award on June 18 for stormwater management and asphalt repairs at Kennard Elementary School.
Darryl Bridal, supervisor of facilities and design, said plans were made available May 23 and bids opened June 12. Five prequalified contractors submitted bids; Martin's Excavation and Hauling LLC of Centerville submitted the lowest responsive, responsible bid at $98,000. Bridal said the project addresses a persistent sinkhole and other stormwater runoff problems originating from work done about 20 years ago and will correct inlet and asphalt issues and install a stormwater management device for the site’s north-side asphalt area.
A motion to award the construction contract to Martin's Excavation and Hauling LLC for $98,000 with FY2026 local CIP funds carried by voice vote. After the vote, Bridal noted the district will include a 15% contingency when encumbering funding, bringing a total encumbered amount to $112,700 for budgeting purposes.
