County briefs committee on 2025 Summer Youth Enrichment Program; funding, capacity and training discussed

Prince George's County human resources and workforce staff briefed the Education, Workforce and Development Committee on June 30 on the 2025 Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP), which county staff said will run a six‑week period beginning July 1 and serve approximately 1,070 youth with $1,000,000 allocated by the Office of Management and Budget.
David Williams, workforce development manager, described the SYEP and the Youth at Work programs and introduced program staff. Williams said placements span government, nonprofit and for‑profit worksites and include public safety, culinary and hospitality, IT, business/finance and legal services. He said the county has more than 70 employer partners and about 35 nonprofit organizations participating this year.
