City staff told the Historic District Commission on June 26 that the commission’s application for a Certified Local Government (CLG) education and training grant was conditionally allocated $2,500 by the Maryland Historical Trust (MHT). Staff said MHT has not issued a formal notice of award because the funds are appropriated by Congress and MHT is awaiting the FY25 notice of funding from the National Park Service.
"We have been notified of conditional Certified Local Government funding allocation of $2,500 from the Maryland Historical Trust," staff member Sheila Paziri said. Staff added they will inform the commission if anything about the award changes as the National Park Service releases its notice.
Staff also explained an administrative change for application intake: beginning July 1 the city will move HDC applications (certificates of approval, evaluations of significance and courtesy reviews) into the city’s MyGovernment Online Connect (MGOC) system. Staff said application questions and requirements will not change; only the submission portal changes from emailed applications to the MGOC portal. Commissioners will continue to receive the agenda book of materials as before.
Staff said the new system aims to reduce processing time and create a more robust project history for each property. Commission members were invited to contact staff with questions about the portal or to request assistance when applications shift to MGOC.
