Training calendar updated; EBT driver/operator certification rules change after Sept. 1

Commission training staff summarized upcoming classes and a statewide change to driver/operator (EBT) certification that takes effect Sept. 1.
Staff said firefighter 1 and firefighter 2 courses will be posted soon, and the county will host a Class E licensing session in July and another in September. Training staff warned that after Sept. 1 the driver/operator (EBT) coursework and credentialing structure will change: new course numbers and a requirement that students complete an over-the-road or Class E license within 18 months to obtain the ISAT certificate.
The commission also outlined a monthly rescue-jack training schedule by county section beginning in August (Westside County in August, other sectors in later months) and noted the county will host aerial operations and other specialty trainings. Staff encouraged departments to limit PowerPoint in favor of more hands-on skills to improve attendance and engagement.
Staff requested a one-page summary of training completed January–June for recordkeeping and said more training dates and registration details are in the meeting packet.
