The Laguna Beach Design Review Board on June 26 approved Design Review 25-1785 for 639 Pearl Street, a project that staff described as a modest upper-level addition, a sizeable interior remodel and a 27-square-foot ocean-facing deck expansion.
Staff clarified that the application had been reduced from earlier materials (an EDU was removed from the scope and some square-footage numbers in the staff report were corrected). The applicant described the revised scope as a 597-square-foot first-floor interior remodel, a 485-square-foot upper-level addition and a 27-square-foot expansion of the elevated deck. Staff told the board the revised proposal complies with zoning and design-review criteria and that no public correspondence had been received.
Board members who visited the site described the property as neighborhood compatible and praised the design changes as consistent with the character of the area. After deliberation the board voted unanimously to adopt the resolution approving Design Review 25-1785 and found the action exempt from CEQA.
