Parent urges El Campo ISD to address stadium parking safety after graduation congestion

Eileen told the board that when students were evacuated from the field guests parked in the stadium lot were unable to exit because vehicles had blocked exits. She said that if there had been an active shooter those in the parking lot would have been trapped.
She described current traffic support from the fire department as occurring only before events and not after, and said the department's participation is voluntary and paid at a nominal annual amount. Eileen suggested possible solutions: stationing fire department personnel to block center entry/exit points and direct traffic, offering more pay for post‑event traffic control, or creating an additional entrance to allow dedicated entry and exit flows in the back lot off Pecan Street.
Board members did not take action because the comment was not on the agenda, but a board member said Mr. Callahan would follow up with a response in the coming week.
