The reading recounted Reyes’s biography: born in 1944, migrating to the United States in 1959, service as an educator and public official, roles in county and city positions, and election to the Miami City Commission in 2017 and reelection in 2019. Commissioners spoke about his emphasis on parks, affordable housing and community service.
