Votes at a glance: Council approves agenda items, continues two hearings and excuses Ferraro

The Los Angeles City Council on Feb. 11 recorded a series of routine and substantive actions, approving multiple items on the regular agenda, continuing two hearings and granting an absence request for a councilmember.

Item 1 (notice for public hearing) was continued to May 2 by unanimous voice. Item 9 was continued to Feb. 18 after a council request; the chamber recorded "no objection" and a unanimous action to continue. Items 2 through 6 on the regular agenda — items for which public hearings had been held — were approved on a roll call after an amending motion to item 5; the clerk recorded 12 ayes. Items 7 through 19 (public hearings not required) were approved on a roll call with the exception of item 9, which had already been continued; the clerk again recorded 12 ayes.

On a continuation agenda, item 20 (the consolidated HUD application) was adopted as amended; the council recorded 12 ayes. Councilmember Pacheco introduced and framed item 28 during discussion of item 20 and said a local $1 million commitment was necessary to qualify for a larger Department of Labor youth opportunity grant; the council indicated it would adopt related amendments.

Council President Ferraro's request to be excused from attendance on Feb. 18 for personal business was approved without objection. Late in the meeting the council approved adjournments in memory of Ida Peterffy and Morley Benjamin; the meeting then recessed to executive session and subsequently adjourned.
