Commission approves routine minutes, consent item and leadership selections; moves referral for council review
Summary
The Transportation Commission approved past minutes (with two abstentions), approved the consent-item motion, voted to advance a council referral for review, and selected its chair and vice-chair by unanimous consent.
At its June 25 meeting the Transportation Commission handled a set of procedural votes and officer selections.
- Minutes: A motion to approve the minutes of the prior meeting was moved and seconded. Two members — Alder Martinez Rutherford and Commissioner Chris McHale — recorded abstentions; the commission carried the motion by unanimous consent among remaining members.
- Consent agenda: The commission approved the single consent item (item 2) by unanimous consent; no registrants spoke on that item.
- Referral (item 12): The commission agreed to move a Common Council referral (the proposed changes to the elected and appointed official code of conduct) forward for consideration at this point in the agenda so staff and the presenting council chief of staff could present to the commission (see separate article on the code of conduct). The commission then voted to formally recommend approval to the Common Council (see code-of-conduct article).
- Leadership: Commissioners nominated and selected Anne (chair) to continue as chair and Chris McHale as vice chair. Robbie Weber nominated Anne; Alder Martinez Rutherford seconded. A motion to close nominations and select Anne carried by unanimous consent. Robbie Weber nominated Chris McHale for vice chair and Bill Bremer seconded; the motion to close nominations and select Chris was carried by unanimous consent.
No appeals or roll-call votes were requested during these procedural actions; all items were disposed by consensus or unanimous consent.
