The Chautauqua County Legislature on June 20 authorized lease agreements at the Jamestown Airport, including a parking lot lease with Federal Express Corporation and a ground lease with Erie 8 JHW LLC.
Legislator Larson highlighted local economic development news: he said Federal Express plans to consolidate operations and use Jamestown Airport (JHW), a move he described as a rare win for the Jamestown area. Larson said the consolidation could bring roughly 100 employees to the airport operation. He also referenced Maple Vale Foods’ planned relocation within the county and linked both developments to the presence of Interstate 86, which he said allows businesses to serve broader areas from Chautauqua County.
The legislature approved Resolution 173-25 authorizing a lease with Federal Express for parking lot space at Jamestown Airport and Resolution 174-25 authorizing a ground lease with Erie 8 JHW LLC. Both resolutions were carried by voice vote.
Chairman Pierre E. Chagnon and other legislators celebrated the potential job gains and said retaining or attracting operations to the county helps preserve employment that otherwise might move across state lines.
The resolutions do not include detailed employment guarantees in the legislative record; county industrial development agency and airport staff retain responsibility for specific lease terms and implementation.
