Metro Transit moves Sun Prairie Market Street stop to Main Street to avoid routine event closures

Metro Transit staff asked the commission on June 25 to approve a permanent relocation of a Sun Prairie bus stop that sits on Market Street and is routinely closed for events such as the farmer’s market.
Mick (Metro Transit) said the proposed routing would divert buses off Market Street, circle Lindnerwood and Bridal, and return on Main Street where a new stop will be located adjacent to a senior housing complex. He told commissioners the change avoids weekly supervisor deployments to staff temporary signage and ensures reliable service for residents of the nearby senior housing.
Commissioner Bill Bremer moved to approve the bus-stop change; Commissioner Denise Jeffs seconded. The commission approved the recommended change by unanimous consent.
Metro staff said the change will be implemented consistent with the routing described in the meeting and that the stop on Main Street will include the same deployment of service as the previous stop.
