Board awards $399,800 contract for Ben Milam International Academy walking track from 1882 funds

The Midland ISD Board approved a competitive-sealed-proposal award of $399,800 for a new walking track and related site amenities at Ben Milam International Academy.
The project scope includes a walking track, soccer goals, hydromulch and associated site work north of the campus. Bond-program staff said the work was previously scoped but delayed due to funding and that the project will be paid for with funds associated with the campus's 1882 partnership rather than the district's maintenance and operations budget.
The district issued 68 invitations to bid; four vendors submitted proposals and Cooper Construction provided the lowest-price offer. Staff recommended award to Cooper Construction and trustees voted unanimously to approve the contract.
Staff said the project will proceed under the approved scope and funding source and that construction procurement followed the competitive sealed proposal process required for the package.
