Lyon County School District trustees approve communications plan, 2026–27 calendar and multiple policy changes; accept $2,000 donation

The Lyon County School District Board of Trustees on June 24, 2025, unanimously approved a district communications plan, adopted the 2026–27 master calendar, accepted a $2,000 donation for Dayton High School’s FBLA program, and advanced several policy changes, the board said at the meeting held at the district PLC.

The board approved the communications plan presented by Skyler Tremaine, communications and public relations officer, who told trustees the document is “a foundational blueprint for delivering clear, consistent, and effective communication across all LCSD stakeholder groups” and described the plan as a “living document” that will evolve with district needs.

The board also approved the proposed 2026–27 master calendar, presented by Betty Jo Hogan, executive director of human resources, which the district said aligns closelier with neighboring northern Nevada districts; Hogan noted the calendar provides two full weeks for the Christmas break, a full week for spring break, and adjusted Thanksgiving/summer timing intended to better match regional schedules.
