Washington County approves hire of fire plans examiner and part-time public safety instructor

The Washington County Board of Commissioners approved hiring James Morgan as a fire plans examiner/inspector and authorized a part-time instructor post for the Public Safety Training Center. Both hires were approved by voice vote; the instructor position is covered in the current budget.
Chip Rose, director of human resources for Washington County, told commissioners the county sought approval to fill two public-safety positions during a brief session.
“We're seeking a motion to hire James Morgan for position number 1886. This is the fire plans examiner slash inspector,” Chip Rose said, describing the first hire as a grade 14, step 4 position at a salary of $75,379 a year and noting an effective date of June 21.
After a motion and second, commissioners approved the hire by voice vote.
Rose then asked the board to approve a second hire. “Staff is seeking a motion to hire a part time instructor for the public safety training center. This would be a grade 12 step 2 at a salary of $62,691 annually. It is a part time instructor, and it's already covered in the budget,” he said.
That appointment was also approved following a motion and second and a voice vote.
No further discussion or conditions were recorded on either appointment before the board moved to adjourn.
