Albany County to spend $195,000 from Innovation Partnership Fund for fitness court in Berne

A presenter from the executive's office said the county would partner with the town of Berne and MVP Healthcare to install the court, citing previous installations in other hill towns. "We'd be utilizing about $195,000 of the Innovation Partnership Fund, in order to build a fitness court in the town of Burns Town Park," the presenter said. The $195,000 was described as covering the fitness court equipment, installation and accompanying custom artwork.
Committee members asked about co-funding and site-work costs. The presenter said the municipality typically contributes to maintenance and the county would provide site work — grading and a concrete pad — as an in-kind contribution. For a larger installation at Tallis Center Park, staff said site work and the concrete pad cost about $91,000; for the Burnes site staff estimated the county's site work would be substantially less and suggested it would likely be under $45,000, though quotes had not been obtained.
The committee moved and approved the intergovernmental agreement and use of Innovation Partnership Fund money by voice vote. The transcript records the motion and approval; it does not include a roll-call tally.
