The Albany County Public Works Committee authorized an agreement to purchase a new tracked Z Boy paver to replace the county's 2004 wheeled paver.
Staff told the committee the new paver is track-mounted and better suited to the county's typical in-house paving work — parking areas and gravel recreation facilities — where wheeled pavers can dig into gravel and be less effective. "This paver will replace our 2004 paver. It will be much more useful than our existing paver because it's on tracks," a staff member said. The county plans to auction the existing paver after the purchase.
The item was introduced as "authorizing agreement with students and equipment regarding the purchase of the Z Boy 8608 paver" in the agenda packet. Committee members asked questions before the motion was approved. The transcript does not record a roll-call tally for the vote.
