Smithville High athletes, archery team recognized; 18 qualify for national tournament

At the meeting, staff and board members introduced athletes by name and noted accomplishments: Naomi Hunter was identified as state champion in the 3,200 and a four‑time state medalist; other athletes were cited for placings across distance, hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and shot put. Principals and coaches invited families forward for photos.
Staff also recognized the archery team and coach Jeremy for the program’s first national appearance. The presentation listed 18 student qualifiers who attended the national event. Coaches said several archers shot personal bests at nationals and staff expressed confidence that many would return to the team next year.
Board members applauded the students and coaches for their performances and thanked parents and families in attendance.
