Board members heard an update on bond and capital projects, including closeout work on the district's 2022 bond package and design progress and summer maintenance for projects funded in the 2025 bond program.
Staff said the final remaining project from the 2022 bond is a transportation complex and that several 2022 projects remain open for final accounting. The 2025 bond program was shown at a high level as a $175,000,000 package that includes major projects such as a new gym and storm shelter at Oakwood Manor, additions at Newmark and Northgate, performing‑arts centers at Winnetonka and Oak Park, and other improvements.
Deferred maintenance and summer work: staff presented photos of restroom demolition and replacement where concealed leaking valves and rust required structural repairs; a failed grease interceptor at Ravenwood that crews are replacing; and sewer‑line repairs discovered by camera inspection at Fox Hill that were fixed before flooring replacement. At Oakwood Manor, staff described reconfiguring exterior steps and ramps and filling internal courtyards to create classrooms and flex space, plus a new gym/storm shelter.
Design concepts: early drawings were shown for Winnetonka and Oak Park performing arts centers; staff cautioned the renderings are conceptual and subject to revision. The board and staff also noted ongoing roofing, asphalt and site work across several campuses and that the transportation complex design is nearing final stages.
Ending: Staff said they'll return with construction updates, drawings and budget details as projects move from design into construction.
