County procurement staff presented six change orders for the YDC Events Center construction and the commissioners authorized them Tuesday.
Shanda Crystal, chief procurement officer, reviewed the items: change order No. 3 to revise storefront windows to hollow-metal frames (reported $666.61), No. 5 for a new gas line ($3,027.99), No. 6 for door-lock revisions ($954.54), No. 7 to pay Excel Engineering for soil and materials testing ($4,745.69), No. 8 for access-control hardware adjustments ($9,982.13), and change order No. 9, a deduct for waterline work (reported $13,850 deduction). Crystal said all six change orders together "come to a value of $5,526.96" and that the contract contingency can cover these costs.
Commissioners approved the change orders by voice vote. Crystal said the largest outstanding unknown is demolition of the old building and the subsurface conditions where the new parking lot will be placed; demo work is scheduled for mid-to-late August and may reveal further change orders. She reported the approved change orders have used about 33% of the contract contingency to date.
Staff said furniture orders and move scheduling are underway and that lead times for most items are about two weeks; procurement will return to the board with specific furniture cost estimates and a moving date when available.
No detailed contract or vendor-identification disputes were raised in the recorded discussion.
