Board approves conditional contract for district network switch replacement pending E-rate approval

Crenshaw said three different switches have failed over the past year, producing network outages that affected staff and students.
Why this matters: district technology outages can disrupt classroom instruction, testing and administrative operations. The board’s action is conditional — the vendor contract will be executed only after federal E-rate reimbursement is approved.
How the funding works: Crenshaw explained E-rate is a federal program administered through USAC that provides discounts for eligible telecommunications and information services. Schools must apply and follow FCC, state and local procurement rules; the district’s consultant had submitted the application and Crenshaw said the application was under review at the time of the meeting.
Board action and votes: The motion to enter a conditional contract with Konica Minolta Allcovered was moved by Mister Rosowski and seconded by Miss Miller. A roll-call vote recorded “yes” votes from Mister Bailey (chair), Missus Dean, Missus Martin, Miss Miller and Mister Osowski; the motion carried.
