The Corona City Library Board of Trustees on its June meeting received a report on summer programs, a patron survey and recent incidents, and approved routine items including the minutes of May 27, 2025, and the consent calendar.
Library manager Danielle Whittington told trustees staff collected more than 240 responses during an on‑site patron survey — "I think it was 245 responses," she said — and staff plan a second round in July as part of the library's strategic‑planning work. Whittington said the initial feedback was "very positive" about services, programs and materials and will help shape programming and resource planning for the coming fiscal year.
The board heard program updates including the summer reading effort (Whittington said the program had reached nearly 20,000 minutes read toward a 1,000,000‑minute goal), a children’s bookmark contest that drew 52 entries and produced four winners (Amelia, Stella, Dilnor and Hannah), and a calendar of neighborhood events: a July 4 closure with reopening July 5 at 1 p.m.; Movies in the Park running the week beginning July 7 at four neighborhood locations (Promenade, Ridgeline, Stagecoach and Spyglass) through Aug. 8; and weekly summer street fairs on Thursdays from July 10 through Aug. 7. The board was reminded the next regular trustees meeting will be July 22 at 5:30 p.m.
Whittington also gave an incidents update, saying staff recorded one suspension and one incident involving drugs or drug paraphernalia in May/early June; she described the recent overall level of incidents as "pretty quiet," allowing staff to focus on programming.
