Village staff told the council June 23 they plan to use the village’s annual construction-manager-at-risk contract with Burkhart Construction to deliver a new prefabricated restroom building at Greenbrier Park and requested authorization to execute a GMP (guaranteed maximum price) amendment.
Mr. Riencevold said the restroom building would be a prefabricated unit with six individual stalls and that the project’s cost is $723,865. He said Burkhart Construction previously completed the village boardwalk and recently finished South Shore Park, whose grand reopening is scheduled for the following day.
Staff explained the new restroom will be sited across the parking lot from the playground and adjacent to the football courts, and that the existing restroom (near the dog park entrance) is likely the village’s oldest. Before installing the new restroom, staff said they will convert the existing area to sanitary sewer (the existing building appears to be on a septic system). That change will allow the new facility to tie into sewer service.
Council members asked whether the prefabricated building is placed on site with a crane; staff confirmed it is assembled in a factory and set in place with crane assistance. Staff also pointed the council to a plan on “page 102” showing location and orientation.
No vote was recorded in the workshop transcript; staff presented the authorization request and asked council to approve executing the GMP amendment when the item returns for action. If approved, Burkhart would proceed under the village’s CMAR contract and the project schedule discussed by staff.
