Council appoints two residents to planning commission

The Lynnwood City Council on June 23 appointed two residents to fill vacancies on the city's Planning Commission.
The council appointed Dorena Tetro to Position 3 for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2025. Tetro, an accountant who said she has more than a decade of experience working with construction firms, described her interest in affordable housing and budget issues and said she has lived in Lynnwood for several years.
The council also appointed Noelle Baca to Position 4 for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2026. Baca, a licensed civil and structural engineer with experience as a superintendent and project manager, told councilmembers she has lived in Lynnwood for nearly 30 years and cited infrastructure, drainage and roadway issues as areas where her background could help.
Each applicant answered council questions about construction experience, potential conflicts of interest, and priorities for the planning commission (for example, sprinkler rules, middle housing, and development code application). Councilmembers thanked both applicants for volunteering; each appointment was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Why it matters: Planning commissioners review land-use proposals and advise the council on development-related policy. The new appointments add technical experience in construction, budgeting and engineering to the commission as the city implements a major rewrite of its development regulations.
