Brentwood Beer Board approves beer permit for Amavaradhi Indian Cuisine after ownership change

At a meeting of the Brentwood Beer Board, members unanimously approved an on-premises beer permit for Amavaradhi Indian Cuisine, 5012 Thoroughbred Lane, following a brief presentation by the restaurant's new owner.

The permit matters because it allows the business to continue serving beer under new ownership; board members asked about compliance with the city's regulations and the applicant described steps to prevent sales to underage patrons.

Giridhar Pinoji, who identified himself as the restaurant's new owner and said he had been manager there for three years, told the board the business changed hands on June 1 and that the staff remains the same. "I'll train them to check the IDs," Pinoji said, adding he would ensure staff are trained to avoid serving underage customers. He said he had worked at the restaurant for three years before taking ownership.

Commissioner Travis asked about the applicant's response to question 19 on the application, which asked whether the applicant had a copy of the City of Brentwood Municipal Code regulating beer; the applicant had answered "no." Travis said he considered having a copy of those regulations "very important." Pinoji responded he would obtain the code from the same city website used for the application.

Commissioner Donahue moved to approve the application; Commissioner Travis seconded. The motion passed unanimously. The board chair presented a copy of the issued permit to the applicant at the meeting.

The board's discussion focused narrowly on training and regulatory materials; no other conditions or amendments were placed on the approval.
