Mayor Meyer said the City Council had already passed the underlying ordinance months earlier and that the law department made the requested language adjustments after the state review. "I'll be honest. I don't see any significance to these changes," Meyer said, adding that the edits were intended to satisfy OPWC requirements so the city can receive funding for next year.
Councilmember Heberling moved to forward Ordinance 2526 to the board of council with an emergency declaration; Councilmember Reichel seconded. The motion passed 6-0. Committee members did not identify substantive policy changes in the requested wording; the changes were described as a handful of word edits to meet state requirements.
The ordinance will return to the full City Council so the city can submit the revised language to the state and preserve eligibility for OPWC funding.
