Council renews legal engagement for planning, BZA and unsafe building commissions

The planning and zoning boards had previously recommended continuing with the current attorney, Alex Gaddis, and the firm provided a 25 percent discount on the hourly rate for those boards.
Town staff presented the engagement letter and noted the selected firm is familiar with local cases and the boards' procedures. Councilor Scott moved and Councilor Randy seconded the engagement; the council approved the retention by voice vote.
The item included a modest rate increase from previous levels offset by a discount for board work, according to staff. The retention keeps continuity for quasi-judicial hearings and board work.
