PLUM denies appeal and amends condition for Oakdale Avenue project after appellant withdraws

The Planning and Land Use Management Committee denied an appeal of a zone-variance decision for the project at 5300 Oakdale Avenue after the appellant withdrew the appeal in a letter dated May 21, 2025. Planning staff presented the item and recommended denying the appeal; staff also proposed an amendment to Condition 7 to require an 8-foot-tall sound fence along portions of the site and to specify permitted materials and maintenance standards.
Stephanie Escobar of LA City Planning summarized the appeal record and noted the appellant’s withdrawal and a Planning staff appeal-response (06/17/2025). The committee adopted the staff recommendation with the amended Condition 7 language: a new 8-foot-tall fence along the northern, western (Oakdale Avenue) and southern perimeter (Collier Street) as shown on Exhibit A; permitted materials to include block wall and/or composite materials; and a maintenance requirement that fences be kept vertical, uniform and structurally sound and that repairs blend with Exhibit A materials.
No members of the public requested to speak on the item after staff presentation. The committee recorded the vote in favor of adopting the amendment and denying the appeal: Blumenfield: aye; Hutt: aye; Nasserian: absent; Lee: aye; Raman: yes. The action was adopted as amended.
